Statement of Responsibility

As the parent / guardian and / or sponsor of a Nagawicka Lake Yacht Club junior, I confirm that I have discussed the Nagawicka Lake Yacht Club rules pertaining to the sailing program with the junior listed below. I am aware this junior has a copy of the rules and regulations. The junior is aware of the rules regarding the use of club boats, guest privileges and use of life jackets. It is expected that parents will review all materials with their student prior to the first day of class.

The junior is aware that small boat sailing has risks, as does any sport. In sailing, these risks may include but not be limited to: capsizing in open or cold water; being struck by movable rigging; slipping on or around boats, movable docks, rafts; and risks associated with boat trailers.

The junior is aware that he / she must learn to rig and launch boats in a safe manner and likewise de-rig and store such boats promptly when their use is over. The junior is also aware he / she will be required to pass a swimming test and learn to capsize and bring upright a boat in open water.

By signing this form, the parent / guardian, sponsor and junior affirm they have read and understand these responsibilities and risks. If questions exist, they should be directed to the director of the respective program.
